Don’t Know Much About Love

I’ve been hungry and I’ve been tired and

I’ve been lonely and I’ve been wired and

Totally empty and filled with desire

Cold as ice and burnin’ on fire and

I got myself in some situations and

I’ve had my share of infatuation but

Through it all, I –

I don’t know much about love.

I’ve been stirred and I’ve been shaken

Been sound asleep then rudely awakened

Captivated, tied up and taken

And left behind, forgotten and forsaken

I’ve been to Texas and North Carolina and

I’ve seen Paris and parts of China but

Still somehow, I –

I don’t know much about love.

I’ve been lost and I’ve been on searches and

Walked in circles and passed some churches and

I’ve knelt at crosses and read some verses and

Prayed to Jesus, tell me what my curse is?

I know a woman, I try to love her but

Sometimes l feel like I’m so far from her but

Maybe it’s time I

I learn something ’bout love.

I’ve held hands and I’ve done some flirtin’ but

I’ve left the stage ‘fore they closed the curtain

And there ain’t much that I know for certain

But sometimes lovin’ feels more like hurtin’

I know a woman who says she loves me but

Sometimes it fells  like she’s so far above me

Maybe she can teach me something about love.

I’m hoping she can teach me something ’bout love.
